Entry Level Environmental/Civil Engineer

Comprehensive Environmental Inc. (CEI) is a growing civil and environmental engineering and consulting firm seeking to hire Entry Level Civil or Environmental Engineers. Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above in civil or environmental engineering, preference to candidates with a Masters’ Degree. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to provide a complete work history and transcripts.

  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation.

  • Willingness to travel as needed by the job, which usually involves day travel around New England but periodic overnight or week-long trips to other U.S. locations is sometimes needed.

  • Proficiency at AutoCAD and other computer programs.

  • Must have passed the EIT or be awaiting results.

Hydraulics Engineer

CEI is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Project Engineer or Project Manager (5-10 years) with experience in hydrology, hydraulics (H&H) and/or structural design.  This position will support CEI's state and municipal infrastructure design and permitting projects through the following:

  • Lead and coordinate drainage design activities on highway and small bridge construction projects

  • Lead and coordinate structural design activities (LRFD design experience a plus)

Mandatory Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or the equivalent;

  • PE in Massachusetts preferred or ability to obtain PE within 1 year;

  • 5-10 years of experience in civil engineering with specific focus within H&H and/or bridge design;

  • Experience and proficiency in the use of HEC-RAS, stormwater runoff modeling software such as Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA), HydroCAD, etc., TR-55, TR-20, HEC-HMS and other hydrology software;

  • Experience and proficiency in CAD and MS Office software;

  • Candidate with working familiarity with fluvial geomorphology and its relationship to stream crossing structures and stream restoration/stabilization design a plus;

  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA), and/or other similar programs;

  • Conduct assessments of potential bridge scour, develop design of scour countermeasures (FHWA and AASHTO), develop bridge and culvert waterway designs that meet federal and state requirements for Aquatic Organism Passage and wildlife accommodation, FEMA floodway analysis;

  • Prepare construction drawings and related construction documents for municipal construction and state DOT projects.
