Plan & Peer Review
Planning boards, conservation commissions, and other reviewing agencies are faced with increasingly complex proposals for new residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. Local bylaws and regulations, as well as state and federal standards, require technically detailed applications by project proponents. Applicant mistakes, misjudgements and errors are all too common although mostly unintentional, but if they aren’t caught by the review engineer, the quality of the project in the end may be substandard. Substandard projects often result in citizen complaints about drainage problems, unanticipated flooding, traffic issue and everything in between – all of which will mean problems for the town. So it is vitally important that the project be reviewed thoroughly by an objective engineer.
For over 20 years, Comprehensive Environmental Inc. (CEI), a New England engineering and consulting firm, has recognized communities’ needs to have expert assistance in evaluating development applications. We are industry leaders in the professional review of project applications requiring expertise in stormwater, wetlands, wastewater, water supply, hazardous materials, and other environmental issues. We have earned the respect of our client municipalities and project applicants for our technical thoroughness, objectivity, and ability to work with community representatives and applicants’ design teams to arrive at “win-win” approvals of development proposals. Additionally, many of you know us for our work in promoting Low Impact Development (LID) techniques.
Our experience encompasses a full range of project types and sizes, including residential projects, from single family homes to large subdivisions and Chapter 40B projects; commercial developments, from small commercial sites to large scale shopping centers, mixed-use and transit-oriented developments; and public projects including school, athletic field, and senior center projects.
